Hatzolah
emergency medical services was started in 1973 in Brooklyn, New York
by Rabbi Hershel Weber. The organization was a basic first aid group
trained in CPR and carrying oxygen. Soon after Hatzolah expanded,
and today they have over 1000 units throughout New York state. Today
Hatzolah is not only in North America, but in Jerusalem,
Great Britain and Mexico--treating patients and saving lives globally!
-
Hatzolah
of Tosh was started by Rabbi Israel Lowen in 1975, and is still under
his guidance today. The emphasis to develop Hatzolah was over 25 years
ago after a tragic accident took the life of a man. The man was electrocuted,
and because the response time for the emergency medical services was
over 30 minutes--he died. He was a young man, one who's life probably
could have been saved with proper emergency medical intervention.
Today Hatzolah makes such intervention immediately available, G-d
forbid it is necessary.
-
We
support the community of Tosh. The community
consists mainly of poor and child blessed families, marbitzei toirah,
and kolal yungelait, who work hard to make ends meet to bring bread
on the table for their family; because of this it's difficult for
Hatzolah to exist solely on the donations of local yiden. We
need your support!
- Hatzolah's response
is not limited to the Jewish community; When any major incident happens
- outside the Jewish community - and Hatzolah receives the call, we
respond. Hatzolah has the capability to expand into the city of Boisbriand
in an emergency. In Tosh, Hatzolah provides emergency medical services
to a community of 300 families with over 3000 residents. We provide
medial treatment and transportation, medical advice, first aid, and
response to fire calls. We also work closely with the Boisbriand police
department.
- Hatzolah of Tosh
has relationships, and works in cooperative with other Hatzolah organizations
nationwide. Many times we have been called upon to respond to emergencies
outside of our area. This happened on the long stretch of New York Thruway
87, the main thoroughfare between New York City, Albany, Montreal, and
New Hampshire.
-
Hatzolah
does not charge any fees for its services. No funds are requested
or received from any City, County, State, or Federal Agency. Our funding
is raised in the community we serve by private donations. The entire
organization is ran exclusively by donations from the public. We conduct
fund raising, and we seek support to continue providing our free community
service. We have an operating budget of over 100,000 annually, and
we continually struggle to raise funds to meet this obligation.
- Haztolah is always
there, many times prior to the municipal rescue teams; In this capacity
we play an important role in the initial rescue during the golden hour.
Our work has won us praise in the media, and from the Canadian parliament.
Hatzolah is committed to the communities it serves and as such is proactive
in educating the community in the various Emergency Preparedness and
Safety issues which face us. Please consider supporting us with a donation.
